Valens Small Breed contains peas, sweet potatoes, and apples as sources of low glycemic grain-free carbohydrates that are absorbed slowly by the digestive system to maintain and promote a healthy weight and metabolism. Small Breed dogs require more calories for each pound of body weight than larger breeds, because of their fast metabolism and heart rate. As they generally live longer than larger breeds, extra antioxidants are added to support cell health, a strong heart and the nutritional requirements they require to remain active throughout their life. Dogs have 10 essential amino acids that they are not able to synthesize themselves. To support their busy bodies we include these amino acids that build muscle and synthesize protein through our recipe formulations. A range of chelated bio-available minerals are also included that are vital to their health, along with enzymes that they naturally lack which contribute to improved digestion.
